Erick Vazquez DEMO REEL ’09

This is a collection of my most recent work.
The Demo Reel was created using After Effects, Final Cut, Premiere Pro and Photoshop. I shot all of the “Camera Work” section using either a DVX100A, DVX100B, or a JVC HD-110U.

CAMERAWORK SECTION:

Zoe live at Crazy Horse.
Demi Lovato live at the Avalon.
Mr Lif live at the Knitting Factory.
The Juggaknots live at Music Plus TV Studios.

Interview Section:
I set up the lighting and shot for all the interviews shown. Depending on the circumstance I either used a Chimera light kit, or a Sun gun to light the subjects. I also used an Arri/Par Can to create a halo over the subjects. I adjusted every interview set up in accordance to the lighting and space we were given. I also worked with lavalier and stick microphones. The interviews shown are:

Ridley Scott intv was shot in a conference room at Scott’s offices.
Kanye West intv was shot in his hotel suite on the set of a music video.
Kanye West and 88 Keys intv was shot on a music video set.
Isabel Lucas intv was shot at MTV Studios LA.

EDITING:
The first half of the editing section is a collection of my some of my work at MTVNews/MTV Tr3s. I edited briefs/pkgs on a consistent basis. For the purposes of this reel, I chose to focus on the editing rather than the subject matter of the various briefs/pkgs. You can view some of the original edits on my vimeo page. The second half of the editing section consists of various shows that I also produced and developed:

-Open Session was a 30-minute television show based on Action Sports Professionals and Amateurs. It featured interviews, trick tips, and on-location shoots. It was created, produced, directed, edited and shot by me. I basically worked on every episode from start (Booking people) to finish (Pre-Post Production).

-Playing PoliticsTV was a website I helped develop content for. This was a green screen show that was shot in HD. I created the backgrounds, as well as contributed to a lot of the creative ideas behind the show. I also edited the show.

-TravelwishTV was a website I helped create and develop content for. This was a green screen show about various travel destinations. I shot, edited, and created the background for the show. In the clip shown, I implemented myself sitting at the desk in the background to give the set more depth.

-RPM Freaks was a website I helped develop content for. It was a website designed to cater to automotive enthusiasts. The majority of the content was shot in front of a green screen. I shot, edited, and created the backgrounds for the show.

MOTION GRAPHICS:
I created all the motion graphics shown using After Effects, and Photoshop.
