La Belle Epoque – Paris 1900
La Belle Époque was a period of peace and prosperity in Western Europe, from about 1870 to 1914. In Paris, the arts flourished during that time, and many masterpieces of literature, music, theater, and fine arts gained recognition. This golden age was characterized by a “joie de vivre” (joy of living), in contrast to the two devastating world wars that followed them.
We created this short video as one of the scenes for the Time Machine prototype we are developing at Pataphysical Studios. This interactive art exhibit invites you to travel through time and meet characters from the past, present and future. We hope to intrigue, enchant and engage visitors in a playful experience that combines interactive art, multimedia theater and technology.
This time travel scene was edited by Dr. Fabio (a.k.a. Fabrice Florin), using historical footage from a variety of sources, including “Paris Belle Epoque” by Raynal Pelicer for Cinétévé and France Television.
