Purple Apricot Hotel, Paxos, Greece, Simpson Travel
As the name suggests, Purple Apricot presents a rather irreverent take on the standard hotel style, refreshingly unconventional and aimed at those who value individuality and personal service. Each suite is an eclectic one-off; bohemian, flamboyant and a touch exotic, all individually styled by designer Jaxx Russell Flint, who lives on the island for part of the year and understands perfectly Paxos’ laid-back appeal.
The emphasis is on rich colours and textures both inside and out, a vibrant tapestry to fire all the senses. At the heart of the hotel is the swimming pool with delightful sea views and a comfortable relaxation area festooned with bright floor cushions and adorned with Eastern-inspired tables, lanterns and candles as day melts into dusk. Breakfast is served under a silvery canopy of trees and the gardens are subtly landscaped to create private spaces for rest and contemplation. Yet however relaxed the atmosphere, the Simpson standards are maintained, thanks to our own concierge who personally oversees the running of the hotel.
